RUNAWAY RAILWAY IS ONE FOR THE RECORD BOOKS
Not only is Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway (new at Disneyland and a favorite at Disney’;s Hollywood Studios) a lot of fun in the traditional Disney manner, filled with whimsy, humor and devoid of pretense, but it pays tribute to Walt Disney Records! It even has a catchy original song that is available now, but hopefully will end up on a park compilation album,
The queue line (which makes going on the ride over and over no problem at all because a line gives me time to savor the details) is one of the most entertaining, tracing Mickey and Minnie’s career. I guess Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is supposed to represent all of Mickey’s TV club, but the only reference to the original MMC is a sticker on the box office outside.
Anyway, fans of Disneyland/Vista Records must see the elaborate display saluting Mickey Mouse Disco and Mousercise. It’s a major part of Mickey (and Disney) history as Mickey Mouse Disco was the first Disney and children’s album to go triple platinum in sales and was a true phenomenon. Long overdue! Of course, you can read the detailed history of both albums (and the Mickey Mouse Club) in this handy, authorized book.
The posters in the lobby, parodies of popular Disney movies, are great too because they blend Disney entertainment offerings as a whole, spanning the years and the impressive body of work that so many still enjoy today. The ride is great, but so is the line!
